Partner programme

How we attribute customers

Summary of the rules. The full partner agreement is what you sign, and it governs if the two ever differ.

We would rather tell you the rules up front than argue about a commission later. This page is the whole of it.

1. Three ways a customer becomes yours

A customer is credited to you in one of three ways:

  • You create them in the partner console. Attribution is automatic and nobody has to type anything.
  • You send them your invite link. Generated per client from the console, valid 30 days, works once.
  • They enter your partner code at signup. Your permanent code, the one on your card and in your email signature.

All three earn the same commission. The first two leave no room for dispute, so use them when you can.

2. Adding a code after signing up

A customer who signed up on their own can still be credited to you, within limits:

  • Within 30 days of creating their account.
  • Once only. A code cannot be changed or replaced afterwards.
  • The customer enters it themselves, in their own account settings. You cannot do it for them, and nor can we on your say-so.
  • After 30 days, only our support team can attach a code, and only with a written reason from the customer.
Customers who enter a partner code get 5 GB of extra storage free for their first year. It gives them a reason to type it in, which means you get credited.

3. What we do not attribute

Some accounts cannot be credited to a partner, whatever code is entered:

  • Customers who were already paying us before you joined the programme.
  • Customers our own sales team had already contacted, or who came from an enquiry, expo or campaign of ours, before your code was entered.
  • Your own agency account, or accounts you control.
  • Accounts created to claim commission rather than to use the service.

If we decline an attribution we will tell you which rule applied and when the earlier contact happened.

4. What you earn, and for how long

  • 20–30% of email plans and storage add-ons, by tier, every year the customer renews.
  • ₹100 per domain per year, on registrations and renewals.
  • Your rate is set by active client count — 1 to 10 is 20%, 11 to 30 is 25%, 31 and above is 30% — and reviewed each quarter. A rate increase applies to every active client, not only new ones.

Commission is calculated on what the customer actually pays us, excluding GST, after any discount.

5. When commission stops

  • The customer stops paying, cancels, or their account is closed.
  • The customer moves to direct billing, or to another partner at their own request.
  • You leave the programme, or we end it under the agreement.

Commission already earned is never clawed back. If a customer’s payment fails or is refunded, only the commission on that payment is reversed.

6. Getting paid

  • Paid monthly by bank transfer, once your balance passes ₹1,000. Below that it carries to the next month.
  • A statement showing every client, what they paid and what you earned is sent on the first of each month.
  • We deduct TDS on commission as required and issue the certificate.
  • If you are GST registered, you raise a tax invoice to us for the commission. If you are not, tell us and we will handle it accordingly.
  • Disputes about a statement should reach us within 60 days of it being issued.

7. Your code

  • You choose your own code: 4 to 12 letters and numbers, not case sensitive.
  • It cannot be, or closely resemble, SagaMail, Sagasoft, or any other company’s brand.
  • Once a customer has signed up with it, the code is locked and cannot be renamed.
  • You may not bid on our brand name in paid search, use the code in spam, or offer cash back for entering it.

8. Your client stays your client

We will not market to, upsell or approach a customer credited to you, other than to support the service and to send the notices we are required to send.

If a customer asks to leave your agency, their account moves to direct billing with us. Nothing is deleted — not a mailbox, not a file, not a domain — and we will tell you before it happens. Commission stops from that date.

9. Changes to this programme

We may change commission rates or these rules with 30 days’ notice by email. A change to rates does not affect commission already earned. If you do not accept a change, you may leave the programme and we will pay out your final balance.

Questions about any of this before you join? Ask us — we would rather answer now than after you have referred someone.
